What happens when responsible patronage meets education and long-term thinking about development?
The result is “The Fifth Element,” a scholarship program for young talents. Students from Zamość and Grodzisk Mazowiecki can apply for full funding for their studies at Kozminski University.
The initiative is implemented by the Kozminski University Development Foundation in cooperation with Paweł Jarski, founder and CEO of the Elemental Group, a graduate of Secondary School No. 2 in Zamość and Kozminski University. It is aimed at young people who are open to the world, think outside the box, and are ready to take on social and business initiatives.
The scholarship program is an investment in people with potential and, at the same time, a form of gratitude to the places—Zamość and Grodzisk Mazowiecki—that have played a key role in my life. The choice of Kozminski University as a partner is natural, because it was this university that opened up wide opportunities for development and gave me the impetus to take action in business, emphasizes Paweł Jarski.
In this case, it is not only about financing education, but also about sending a message to young people: their ambitions can receive real support, and their dreams of studying and developing do not have to end at economic or geographical barriers. The program was also created with the aim of giving young people access to an educational environment that combines academic knowledge with business experience.
“We want to show young people that they have a real chance to study in a place that offers enormous opportunities for development. Scholarships are a way to support their ambitions and dreams, and at the same time give impetus to the development of the region through young people who will want to return here and work in the future,” said Dr. Sylwia Hałas-Dej, Vice-Rector for Development and External Relations at Kozminski University, Dean of Kozminski Executive Business School, and President of the Kozminski University Development Foundation.
In ancient philosophy, quinta essentia meant the highest form of matter—the essence that gives meaning to everything. Today, it symbolizes a strategic element and a driving force. In the scholarship program, “The Fifth Element” is a metaphor for young people who think outside the box, are open to the world, and want to be leaders of change in their environment.
The program operates on two levels.
The first is concrete: the scholarship covers the full tuition fees for studies at Kozminski University—both for bachelor’s and master’s degrees, full-time or part-time, in any field of study. This solution removes one of the most significant barriers to accessing high-quality education and allows candidates to make decisions about their future based on their ambitions, aptitudes, and plans, rather than solely on their financial capabilities.
The second level of support is developmental in nature. Scholarship holders gain access to a talent program, mentoring from business leaders, and the opportunity to work on real projects while still in college. The program also includes membership in the Youth Club of the Society for the Encouragement of the Fine Arts in Warsaw. In practice, this means entering an environment that not only provides academic education, but also teaches decision-making, cooperation, and responsibility.
